Training Clicker

This is our favorite clicker for training! We have one everywhere, even a back-up in the car! It’s from Amazon, which makes it super convenient!

Treat Pouch

See our favorite treat pouch! It holds the poop bags, car keys, credit card, and phone! PLUS it cleans super easy and can be worn 3 different ways!

Enrichment Favorites

Snuffle Mats

So many types available! Great for allowing the dog to scavenge for their food and get their brains working at the same time! Homemade versions: Shag carpet squares, bath mats, and the grass in the backyard!

Lick Mats

Lick Mats are great to help sooth dogs when they are anxious! Bonus, freeze them to make them last even longer! They help to satisfy a dog’s natural instinct to lick in a productive manner!

Treat Dispensing Toy

Brodie’s FAVORITE! It’s helped him eat his meals at meal time! We use this for part (or all) of Brodie’s meals and he absolutely loves it! Treat dispensing toys are great for dogs who enjoy working for their food. It allows them to work their brains!

Interactive Treat Dispenser

Another favorite of Brodie’s is our interactive treat dispensing toy! Brodie hits a button and the treats come out of the machine! It helps him learn to work out how to get the food out of the machine! And he can get some movement in too!

Ball Treat Dispenser

Great for getting your dog to work to figure out to get their food! They push the ball around and treats come out as it rolls! A Level 1 Nina Ottosson Puzzle toy!

Puzzle Toys

So many levels and varieties with these! I recommend starting at a low level and increasing with new puzzles at your dog’s pace! Great for brain games!

Out for a Walk

Blue-9 Balance Harness

Our personal favorite harness and what we use for our pup Brodie! Super durable and long lasting. Has both a front and back clip for leash attachments and multiple points of adjustment for the perfect fit!

Long Line

Great for taking your pup on a hike or to the park! It allows for more freedom, without breaking leash laws or worrying about your dog’s improving recall! Also great for those without a fence at home! Available in 15ft, 20ft, 30ft, 50ft, or 100ft. Great for getting experience with a long line!

High Tail Hikes Leashes & Long Lines

Great for more regular long line use and hands-free leashes. Made with BioThane (a water & mildew proof material great for all environments & easily washable), rather than nylon. Extremely customizable based on needs! Use code BLG10 for 10% off your next purchase!

Reactive Dog Essentials

Leash Connector

Great for anxious dogs or escape artists! Allows you an extra point of connection between your leash and your dog! Attach your leash to the harness and use the connector to attach the leash to the collar! A great safety measure!

Leash Wrap

Helpful for many types of dogs, but especially anxious or reactive dogs or dogs in training! It gives those around you the understanding to give space, not to pet, or understand why your dog is behavior a certain way! A favorite of mine for walks!

Training Muzzle

Baskerville Ultra Muzzles are great for training and working with a dog to get comfortable with a muzzle. The larger holes help with reward delivery. Though they don’t always have the best fit or enough panting room, they are an affordable starting place!

*Note, this is not a bite proof option. It can be bite-resistant depending on the intentions of the dog.

Custom Bite-Proof Muzzle

A custom muzzle is a great for dogs who will need to spend more time in a muzzle, such as for walks, greetings, adventures, etc. These allow for the dog to fully pant and have a more comfortable fit. Options include bite-proof or not. A big investment, but more beneficial.
*This is where we got Brodie’s custom vinyl bite proof muzzle!

*Note, this is not an affiliate link. I just really LOVE this company!

Reflective Vest

Great for neighborhood or park walks! Helps to alert those around you that you are training and to give you space. Similar to the Leash Wrap, it’s great for many types of dogs, but especially anxious or reactive dogs or dogs in training! Quickly becoming my new favorite addition to my walking gear!

Our Favorite Sniff Spots

Sniff Spot is an app for dogs and their humans! It’s essentially like AirBNB, but for private spaces you can rent to take your dog for some fun! It’s great for reactive dogs, dogs who don’t do well in dog parks (which we never recommend going to) and families without a yard!

Island Dragway Private Dog Park

Located: Independence Township, New Jersey
Absolute FAVORITE spot! So many places to go and explore, plus it’s a cool location! $20/dog/hour with options for membership and totally worth it! It’s only partially fenced, so we choose to use our long line at this spot, but that’s perfectly fine for us! It’s a great adventure for dog’s like Brodie!

Fully fenced 2 Acres of Fun

Located: Boonton, New Jersey
Another favorite! It’s a huge 2 acre fenced in area! It’s great for some off leash fun! It’s also a great training spot with distractions! It does border a popular park and walking path, but we’ve used it as a training opportunity! With a secure fence, it’s great for dog’s who are ready for that level or training!

David’s 6 Acre Fully Fenced Private Dog Park

Located: Wind Gap, Pennsylvania
Road Trip Spot for those coming from Jersey! This spot offers SO much space to explore and run around off leash! $10/dog/hour makes the road trip totally worth it! It’s fully fenced in and I felt the fence was VERY secure! It was on a bit of a main road, but we got to enjoy so much fun off leash time! And got to do some off leash training in a safe enviornment!

Jeanette’s 25 Acre Unfenced Private Dog Park

Located: Pottstown, Pennsylvania
Another road trip spot! We traveled pretty far for this one, but it was SO worth it! Private hiking trails with a big field in the middle with a picnic table! We did keep Brodie on his long line, but it was so nice to be able to get out and hike again! The field was perfect for training and a picnic! $10/dog/hour makes the road trip totally worth it!

Our Favorite HipCamps

Hipcamp is an app that’s essentially like AirBNB, but for camping! It’s great for privacy when camping, remote/off grid adventures, and reactive dogs or dogs who don’t do well in normal or packed camp grounds!

Forest or field camping HipCamp

Located: Shickshinny, Luzerne, Pennsylvania
We didn’t actually camp overnight here because of the weather (40°F and raining), but we did stay for the entire day with plans to go back for the overnight experience! We loved it! This spot has a ton of private hiking trails and we choose the field site! It was great practice camping for Brodie! And only $30/night!!

Our Favorite Airbnbs

Dog Friendly Airbnbs are hard to come by, especially ones that are truly dog friendly and not just that they allow dogs to be there! So we’re out to find the most reactive-dog friendly spots to adventure to and to get away for the weekend!

Genuine Vermont Sugar House on 70 Peaceful Acres

Located: Royalton, Vermont
One of the BEST reactive dog finds we have had since we started finding ways to get out! This is a small, one room rental on the back side of the property with 70 acres of land to explore! We snowshoed and Brodie got to run around in the snow. We chose to keep him on his long line for the trip. This Airbnb was dog friendly, provided a crate, towels and wipes for the pup’s paws, and food/water bowls! The house is far enough away from the main house, which is a plus for dogs like Brodie!
