Rain may have stopped our original plan (with SO many more pups), but a Halloween morning walk with doggy friends if fun, no matter what!
If you haven’t figured it out by now, you know Dan and I are (slightly) obsessive, especially when it comes to things we love, like Brodie! So when we adopted Brodie and noticed there was no dog-specific Facebook group in our neighborhood, Dan of course jumped at the chance and started one! Everyone shares their dogs, their adventures on the lake, asks questions about dog friendly things for the area, and shares in our mutual love of dogs.
But I think our favorite thing that came from the group are our bi-monthly pack walks with other dogs in the neighborhood! It’s great for socialization, learning to behave around other dogs, and of course, it’s fun for the humans to get to talk and laugh about some of the (occasionally dumb or hilarious) things our dogs have done.

So, every other Saturday morning, we set out on walks around the neighborhood. We did take a hiatus during the hot summer, but we always look forward to them! This past weekend, the weather decided to be difficult and we had to push it to Sunday, making it a costume filled Howl-ween walk! So much fun for us and the pups!
Not all dogs are good with costumes. Surprisingly, Halloween is actually one of the most difficult holidays for dogs. People are in masks, or have large props, or don’t look like themselves, which makes it difficult for dogs to get “a read” on humans. Plus, people in our neighborhood go hard core when it comes to decorating (which, from a human perspective is AWESOME!), but the pups go both ways with it all.

Even though this pack walk ended up with only a couple of pups due to timing and weather, Brodie and Luna still had a great walk! Plus they got to run into one of their other favorite dogs, Cassie! We paused our walk to play with Cassie in her “Grave Yard”-aka her front yard! And of course they all got tired out just from playing!
And I mean tired! Granted, as we know, Brodie is currently dealing with leash reactivity and a (very sweet) dog that Brodie isn’t the biggest fan of walked by-and yup, you guessed it, BIG reaction. Don’t worry, he did nothing and his friends helped him re-center. But you know, playing, walking, and re-centering is tiring!

After our play time (and Brodie’s little rest) we were back out on our walk! The pups smelled EVERYTHING, marked as they went, and overall enjoyed each others’ company while the humans got to enjoy each other just as much! The conversations just kept flowing.
We can’t wait for our next pack walk with all of our friends!

As an added bonus, Brodie and Luna both went to the dog park together after our walk! (Stay tuned and check out our next post about our favorite dog park!)
