A day of family walks, doggy play, and good GOOD food!

We started off our Thanksgiving with a nice long walk to the lake and around the neighborhood! Now, there was some mixed motives to this walk…partially it was for family bonding! But mostly it was to exercise Brodie enough before heading to Dan’s parent’s house for the holiday! It was a nice and quiet walk, but SUPER windy!

We even did some training down by the lake! We got to practice sit, stay, look at me, and come! All of which Brodie ROCKED! (A big step from where we were this summer down by the lake!)
Training has been a big thing for us, so it was a wonderful start to a great holiday!
Brodie had an absolute BLAST down by the water! We even let him run around a bit! (Yes this was a partially staged, partially Brodie was too happy!) It was such a reward for him to be back down by the water, one of his favorite spots…even if it was a bit (or WAY) too cold to go in the water!

Not that he didn’t think about it!

And then it was off to Grandma’s we went! (You know, one of his top 5 favorite humans!)

It’s not just Grandma (Dan’s mom) that he got to see! He also got to play with Biscuit! He’s my in-law’s dog! (AKA one of my first dogs of my adult life! We adopted him as a family way back when Dan and I had only been dating for a little over a year!) Biscuit is an 8 year old pup who we THINK is a black and tan coonhound mix!

He was such a special dog for me! I had grown up with this tiny tiny Rat Terrier who was about 10lbs (on a heavy day). So when Dan and his dad said they found the PERFECT small dog, I was pumped to meet him! Needless to say, 40lbs to them is small, since their previous pup was 100lbs! Biscuit became the first “bigger” dog I fell in love with!
Most of the time the 2 of them get along great! But sometimes the age gap between the two can cause some friction…I mean would you want an annoying young thing bugging you to play every 5 seconds? No? Yeah, I don’t blame you, so we don’t blame Biscuit either when he’s had enough!

Although, what made this Thanksgiving extra great, was how much play time the two of them had without Brodie being too much for Biscuit! It was so special to watch! They ran and played and chilled together all afternoon and night! Two completely content and happy pups!
Spending Thanksgiving with family is always special, but spending it with your dogs is almost better! Plus the great food that comes with the holiday made it even better!

We hope you all had just as amazing as a Thanksgiving as we did! Let us know in the comments how you spent it!
